A summary of the various activities and meetings held or attended to by the Federation Prior 2012.

The Federation was invited by the Malta Fishing Forum to participate in the organisation of the ORNIS Big Game Fishing Tournament 2011. This event was held in aid of the Puttinu Cares Foundation.

The Federation Secretary Dr. Joe Carabott Damato was appointed as the Tournament Director. Preparations for the event started in February even though the competition itself was to be held at the end of June. The participating boats amounted to just under 70 boats. A Pre Tournament Briefing was held during which all regulations were explained in detail to all participants. A Powerpoint presentation of the procedures to be followed on the day of the competition was shown to the participants during this meeting.

The competition itself was held on the 26th June as scheduled and the event proved to be successful inspite of the fact that weather conditions were not completely favourable. The number of fish caught compared very well with other similar events, and even included a Pastardella and a Blue Fin Tuna. (A special permit was issued by the Fisheries Control Directorate for the event.)

An Awards Presentation Night was held at the Angolina Bar in Birzebbugia on the 14th July. Prizes were presented to all the winners, and the Puttinu Cares Foundation was also presented with a cheque amounting to €15,000.
